Desert Ouzina

Our environment

The Ouzina environment is characterized by a remote desertified and virtually uninhabited terrain. This really is “getting away from it all “. We are located in the golden dunes of Ouzina, a short distance from the small village that gives it the name. Access to the area is only via the old Paris Dakar Rallyroutes linking Merzouga in the east with Zagora in the west, some 250 or more kilometres of rough tracks that cross this part of the Moroccan Sahara. In Taouz, the asphalt ends, so the tour is done largely by 4x4´s, not being passable withnormal cars.

In our surroundings, we can find all types of terrain:

• Sand dunes
• Black desert called Hamada
• Chotts (dry salt lakes)
• Mountains
• Rivers
• Oases
• Acacias and scrubland.

The region encompasses a whole range of landscapes, which gives it a special interest for lovers of 4x4 or the off road motorcycle. In this area, the use of a vehicle T.T. is essential. Depending on the route that we will choose and if we want to tackle great difficulties, if there is a way we will find it,however you should be clear about its limitations.We recommend you do the crossings with a 4x4 possessing turbo if we are to reach the last explorable corners.

What can you do in Ouzina?

In Ouzina, to be in a totally natural setting, we can organise various kinds of outdoor activities. The activities available are:

• Camel rides on the dunes. (1/2 Day or full day)
• Rental of quads.
• 4X4 Routes (own or rent with driver)
• Haima bivouac in the desert (nomad tent)
• Trekking in the area.
• Night time observation of constellations.
• Searching for fossils.
• Visit of the local village.

There are an endless number of possibilities, depending on the personal liking.
